  • Sovnger - Blake, What I like

Forgettable, loud and obnoxious techno noise but with a cool and crazy video shot in the subway system of Paris, France. Featuring a fast moving and insanely fun relay race, the camera has such an incredibly fast framerate that the fluorescent lights can be seen to be flickering, which would otherwise be imperceptible to the naked eye because of their incredibly high frequency. Ridiculously Awesom... Read More
  • Bloc Party - This Modern Love

It was on an October night, in Paris. We went to a pub, made some noise outside with a German band. Kele, Bloc Party's singer, went out. We asked him to sing. He said no. We asked again, he said 'yes but'. Then, we asked again... Here it is, just one song, an old song, played acoustic for the first time. Read More
  • Phoenix - 1901

"We had been playing cat and mouse for months. We attended the same shows in Paris, talked a little, mentioning maybe we could do something together... to then see them leave, become huge, and even more intriguing, elusive. It took eight months for this Take Away Show to happen, for them to be free just one afternoon despite their super busy Hollywoodian schedule. Read More
  • Caribou - Odessa

If Dan Snaith has mastered one aspect of his music career, it's change. Not the remodeling or renovation sort, more the alterations and adaptations with purpose. The steady upward progression in replayability between 2001's glitchy Start Breaking My Heart and 2005's towering Milk of Human Kindness feels like a problem of some sort was solved. Which makes room for the comparative left-turn of Andor... Read More

The Egg

soulshine_laidback_09The Egg were formed in the UK from a conglomeration of various Oxford-based dub-influenced dance music acts. Comprising Dave Gaydon (bass), Mark Revell (guitar) and twin brothers Maff Scott (drums) and Ned Scott (keyboards), they have developed a unique sound combining hip-hop, psychedelia, ambient and house, resulting in what has been described as a "fluid trance groove".

In 1995, they recorded their debut EP, The Shopping, through the iconoclastic Bristol-based Cup Of Tea Records. The release was greeted with critical acclaim, which resulted in the initial pressing selling out within two weeks. They maintained a high profile with notable performances at the Glastonbury and Phoenix festivals. By 1996, they had secured a contract with Indochina Records who endorsed the 11-track opus Albumen, which was co-produced by Joe Gibb.

ulrichUlrich Schnauss was born in the northern German seaport of Kiel in 1977. He became interested in a range of music: My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Tangerine Dream, Chapterhouse, and early bleep & breakbeat tracks. There was not much opportunity to see his musical influences in Kiel, so he moved to Berlin in 1996.

Ulrich's musical output began under the pseudonyms of View to the Future and Ethereal 77. These electronica and drum-driven pieces became noticed by Berlin electronica label CCO (City Centre Offices), whom Schnauss sent CDR's on a regular basis. Ulrich developed these submissions to CCO into his first album under his own name, Far Away Trains Passing By, released in Europe in 2001, and in the United States in 2005.
