roberto-cavalliThe recession might have spelled doom for a few of the high-end luxury brands and designers like designer Christian Lacroix, but at the same time, there are designers like Roberto Cavalli who are expanding their empires, and offering no bargains even in the recession. The latest from the Italian fashion house is a made-to-measure service, called “Roberto Cavalli Saint-Honoré” for his high-end clientele.

The service will offer entirely handmade dresses in a special private space above the Rue Saint-Honoré store, and no more than 35 dresses are to be produced each year, with prices starting at over $40,000 for a cocktail dress. Roberto Cavalli’s wife, Eva, stated that the collection is not the start of a couture collection, but an extension of a service the house has been offering for red-carpet and other relevant events. "Clients who want a special outfit from Cavalli now will know that they can obtain it," she said.
