34036838New York City's most famous Christmas tree is so good it got a star.

The Norway spruce next to the Rockefeller Center skating rink was adorned with a spectacular Swarovski (swah-ROW-skee) crystal star on Tuesday that weighs 550 pounds and is almost 10 feet in diameter.

The star is decorated with 25,000 crystals.

A massive crane was used to place the star atop the 72-foot-tall tree.

This year's tree comes from a family in Hamilton, N.J. It was hoisted into place last week.

The tree will be decorated with thousands of colored lights and lit in a televised ceremony on Dec. 3.

The first Rockefeller Center Christmas tree was put up by workers building the complex during the Depression.
